In the sports care class held on the 13th, Olympic medalist and former national team coach Yoo Yeon-yeon (badminton) and coach Hyeon Jeong-hwa (table tennis) participated and directly taught elementary, middle, and high school students in the district.
The badminton class held at Samcheok Gymnasium in the morning started with basic movements and basic skills training and fostered students’ cooperation through practice and game activities. In the afternoon, the table tennis class held at Oullim Plaza had time to experience professional sports skills by conducting basic movements and rally training.
Samcheok City will continue this enthusiasm by running sports care classes for basketball and dance on the 27th. Basketball classes will be held by Coach Seung-Hyun Kim, known as ‘Magic Hand’, at the Kangwon National University Sports Center from 10 AM to 12 PM, and will teach basic movements, understanding tactics, practice, and cooperative activities.
The dance class will be held by famous choreographer Bucky at the Samcheok City Youth Training Center from 2 PM to 4 PM, and will feature rhythm training, basic broadcast dance movements and choreography instruction, and stage demonstrations.
This program is also targeting elementary, middle, and high school students in the area, and recruits 50 students for each sport. Applications are from 9 a.m. on the 15th to 6 p.m. on the 19th, and can be applied through the online Naver form. Confirmed applicants will be notified individually after the recruitment period ends.
A city official said, “This program was designed to promote the holistic growth of students in the district and reduce the burden of parenting on parents,” and added, “We hope that meeting with famous sports players and professional instructors will provide an opportunity for children to explore their dreams and careers and grow healthily.”
