The Xolos de Tijuana are very close to signing Venezuelan forward Josef Martínez.
Exclusively, Súper Deportivo learned that the negotiations for Josef are in their final stage and it is a matter of details for his signing to take place towards Clausura 2026.
The transaction would not have any cost for the Mexican club, since it was recently released from the San José Earthquakes of the MLS, where he scored 14 goals in 31 games.
Martínez, 32, has been playing in the United States since 2017, after being transferred to Atlanta United from Torino in Italy.
From 2017 to 2023 he played for said American club, where he scored 111 goals and distributed 17 assists in 158 official matches.
From January 2023 to February 2024, Josef played for Inter Miami, where he scored 12 goals and three assists in 40 games.
In the second month of last year, he ended up in Montreal on the same United States circuit, accumulating 14 goals and three assists in 26 games.
Thus, throughout 2025, he played for San José, where he repeated the same numbers as in Montreal (14 goals and three assists) but in the space of 31 games.
