Jayden Daniels Injury: Commanders vs Giants Update

Quarterback Jayden Daniels will not play in the Washington Commanders’ game against the New York Giants on Sunday after aggravating his left elbow injury last weekend.

Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said Wednesday that Daniels did not re-dislocate his elbow, initially injured in a loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Nov. 2, when he was knocked to the ground after throwing an interception in his team’s 31-0 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

“It was landing on it, with all your weight,” that was the problem, Quinn said, adding that a magnetic resonance imaging test Monday and other scans this week found “no structural damage.”

He said team doctors advised him not to play Daniels against the Giants (2-11). Marcus Mariota will be the Commanders’ starting quarterback.

“We’re really disappointed for Jayden,” Quinn said.

Daniels will miss a seventh game this season due to injury, half of the games the Commanders (3-10) have played so far this season, having lost eight straight games.

Daniels missed two games with a sprained left knee, another with a hamstring injury, and was sidelined for three straight games with an elbow injury that prevented him from throwing before making his brief return to action last Sunday.
