RC Lens owner Joseph Oughourlian is expected to soon withdraw from Italian Serie B club Padua, where he held a majority stake through his Luxembourg holding company J4A Holdings II SARL. Arriving as a minority shareholder at the end of 2017, he took control of the club in 2019, then in Serie C and in financial difficulty, and contributed to its rise to Serie B last season.

Despite this sporting progress, Padua remains unprofitable and Oughourlian has encountered obstacles in developing the club, notably with local authorities and limited support from supporters. Marcelo Figoli would be tipped to succeed him. The businessman nevertheless retains his majority shares in Lens, Millonarios in Colombia, and 5% of Real Zaragoza in Spain.
