Colts QB: Could Andrew Luck Return?

Forced to find a solution at quarterback with Daniel Jones’ injury, the Indianapolis Colts plan to call on the legendary Philip Rivers.

This incredible turnaround was reported by the NFL Network on Monday evening. The man who celebrated his 44the birthday during the day will visit the Colts facilities on Tuesday.

Rivers will practice with the group and could then join the practice squad.

The American, who became a grandfather earlier this year, has not played in the NFL since 2020, when he helped Indianapolis finish with an 11-5 record before losing in the first round of the playoffs.

Despite twice finishing second in the AFC South Division, the Colts have not appeared in the knockout rounds since. Indianapolis (8-5) had an excellent start to the season, but lost its last three duels.

The Indiana team confirmed Sunday that Jones’ campaign was over due to an Achilles tendon injury in his right foot. It was rookie Riley Leonard who logically should have gotten the reins of the attack, but he injured his knee against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The fourth overall pick in the 2004 draft, Rivers had a superb career, primarily with the Los Angeles/San Diego Chargers. He has been invited to the Pro Bowl eight times and is the seventh quarterback with the most passing yards, with 63,440.

Since his retirement, the father of 10 has served as the head coach at St. Michael Catholic High School in his home state of Alabama.
