With the support of Nakamura Eye Clinic in Shimizu Ward, we held[Nakamura Eye Clinic Presents Brand Football Experience Event]on December 9th (Sat) at the match against Fagiano Okayama (kickoff at 2:00 p.m./Location: IAI Stadium Nihondaira)!
On the day of the event, we had many people of all ages and genders experience blind football!
Many supporters said, “This is my first time learning about blind football!” and everyone was very interested in trying it out!
On the day of the event, Nakamura and his team staff from Shizuoka Prefecture’s only blind football team, FC Coletibo Shizuoka, came to the event to give guidance to everyone and liven up the event!
*This event is a postponement of the Cerezo Osaka match on Sunday, November 9th, which was canceled due to rain.
What is blind football?
Blind football is played by players with visual impairments (totally blind to light perception).
Field players wear eye masks and rely on the sound of the ball as it rolls. It’s a sport that features ball handling techniques that make it hard to believe you can’t see it, as well as physical defense.
*Sighted people (no disabilities) can also participate in blind football games.
The trial session will be held with an eye mask. I walked, touched the ball, and dribbled without being able to see at all! The ball is a special ball for blind football, and it has metal inside and makes a sound! I play based on that sound. Everyone played very well!
The last part is the shoot experience! Kick into the goal when you can’t see it. If you don’t hit the center of the ball firmly, it will fly in a strange direction. Everyone carefully checked the position of the ball and took a shot! There were a lot of nice goals!
We would like to thank Nakamura Eye Clinic for their support.
Also, thank you to all the supporters who came to experience blind football!
Even if you have a visual impairment, you can still play soccer! That’s blind football. Soccer is a sport where anyone can see their future with just a ball! Shimizu S-Pulse will continue to support sports for people with disabilities!
