[서울경제TV 순창=최영 기자] Sunchang-gun, Jeollabuk-do is actively diversifying local sports marketing by hosting various sports competitions and operating collaborative programs with famous athletes.

The central program, the ‘2025 Sunchang Gangcheonsan Cup National Youth Soccer Tournament’, was successfully completed at Paldeok Multipurpose Stadium and Public Stadium from the 5th to the 7th.

For this competition, 48 teams and over 1,000 athletes and parents from all over the country visited Sunchang, revitalizing the local commercial district.

In particular, the one-point lesson, in which former national team player Lee Dong-guk was invited, attracted the most attention and created a lively atmosphere with over 400 youth players participating.

Sunchang-gun is breaking away from its previous sports marketing strategy of focusing on baseball, soft tennis, tennis, etc., and is seeking to diversify sports by hosting new soccer tournaments starting this year.

Even though there is no youth soccer field, a special stadium was built to hold competitions stably, showing that it is possible to attract a variety of sports competitions regardless of the presence or absence of a professional stadium.

The county plans to use this competition as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation with sports organizations and expand auxiliary programs in various sports competitions to be held in the future to become a center of sports marketing.

Sunchang County Governor Choi Young-il said, “We will actively attract sports competitions to expand the living population and revitalize the local economy by diversifying sports,” and added, “We will further enhance Sunchang’s sports marketing capabilities and contribute to regional growth.”
