The Colts are over
The Colts have just lost their 4th game in 5 meetings. They just lost Daniel Jones (QB) for the season. Indianapolis no longer has its destiny in its hands to win the AFC South. Given the dynamics, qualification for the playoffs even seems illusory…
And yet the Colts started the season with 7 wins and 1 loss. Indianapolis had one of the best offensive seasons in history, Jonathan Taylor was mentioned for the MVP title, the division seemed promised and 1st place in the AFC, an achievable goal.
A few weeks later, everything went away. Worse, the future of the Colts has become uncertain. With his injury, Daniels Jones will have difficulty being ready for the next start of the season. And even if so, in what state? The player is free from any contract in a few weeks. Will the Colts re-sign him under these conditions? The franchise seems to have returned to the same point as last year: 0 certainty on the quarterback position. And the Colts no longer have a 2026 1st rounder.
The Colts’ season took a disastrous turn in a short period of time.
The Chiefs will not be champions in the AFC West
It is now certain. With their defeat this Sunday, the Chiefs will not be able to be champions of the AFC West. A first since the 2016 season. There will therefore not be 10 consecutive AFC West champion titles for the Chiefs. The new king will be on the side of Denver or Los Angeles.
A strong symbol for a Kansas City team which is now even in great danger of qualifying for the playoffs.
A step back to better come back next year?
Joe Burrow and the Bengals miss the impossible…
Leading 28 to 18 with 8 minutes remaining, the Bengals thought they had a victory against the Bills. A victory which had the merit of continuing to keep alive the hope of qualifying for the playoffs for the Bengals. Something unexpected when Cincinnati was 3 wins for 8 losses not long ago…
Except that Joe Burrow threw an incomprehensible interception (and had little luck on the second) and Buffalo managed to turn the tide of the match to win. With this defeat, the Bengals stagnate at 4 victories. It is now impossible (well yes, but below a 1% chance…) to see Cincinnati in the playoffs. A new season with a funny feeling about the Bengals.
… Pittsburgh advantage
By beating the Ravens, the Steelers won the “first set” against their Baltimore rivals. Pittsburgh alone takes the division lead. And with the Bengals almost eliminated, Pittsburgh is in an advantageous position.
The two teams will meet again in Week 18 for what could well be match point for the division.
The Giants, 1st draft pick
The “race” for the 1st pick of the Draft remains tight as ever. The Titans won, the Saints won… and it is therefore the Giants who now have the 1st choice of the 2026 Draft. Things can still change a lot but having the 1st draft choice while already having its quarterback of the future could make the Giants’ strategy more than interesting.
Legendary Jahmyr Gibbs
The Lions have a truly special player in Jahmyr Gibbs. Explosive, decisive… “Sonic” scored 3 touchdowns last Thursday to overcome the Cowboys.
With these touchdowns, the young runner is therefore at 47 touchdowns scored in less than 3 full seasons. At under 24, he is currently tied with legend Barry Sanders for the most touchdowns scored before the age of 24.
Except that Gibbs still has 4 games (before turning 24) to beat and take the record a little further. History is being written before our eyes.
Jonathan Gannon, the end is coming
If the rumors around a divorce between Kyler Murray and the Cardinals are increasingly “strong”, Jonathan Gannon could also walk out the door.
For several weeks, his Cardinals have had a series of failed performances. Jacoby Brissett found himself barreling in all directions with dozens of points to make up. This is nice for fantasy football players but of little use in the real world.
In a season where coaches like Ben Johnson, Liam Coen or even Mike McDonald (last year), show that it does not take years and years to put a franchise back in the positive, the 3rd season of the Cardinals coach without a positive record could be fatal for him.
