The 21-year-old, a regular at Benfica, tells what has happened on Instagram during Saturday night. He is charged after sharing a video with illegal content.
“I received a short video and forwarded it to a friend without thinking twice. I only watched the first few seconds and didn’t understand what it was. When my friend alerted me to the content, I immediately deleted it,” writes Schjelderup.
According to VG In recent days it has been reported in Denmark, where Schjelderup used to play, that an unnamed footballer has been charged in a case of possession of child sexual abuse material.
Expected to be sentenced
According to the 21-year-old, he was contacted by dance police earlier this year and has cooperated throughout the process.
“I take full responsibility. What I did was illegal and not right. I expect to be convicted and get a suspended sentence,” he writes.
Schjelderup describes it as a stupid mistake and now apologizes.
“I am ashamed and sincerely sorry. This does not reflect who I am as a person,” he writes.
The words of the national team captain
Andreas Schjelderup played in Danish North Zealand between 2021-2023 and had since belonged to Portuguese Benfica. He has played seven international matches for Norway.
