Dozens of teams in both men’s and women’s categories competed on the court in the competitions held at Servet Tazegül Sports Hall. While there was great competition throughout the matches, sports fans who filled the stands supported their teams with enthusiasm. The organization, which aims to contribute to the development of young people both in sports and social terms, was considered an important step in spreading amateur sports awareness in Mersin.
After the final competitions, medals and awards were presented to the winning teams and athletes. Speaking at the award ceremony, officials emphasized that the aim of Amateur Sports Week is to spread sports to the grassroots, introduce young people to sports and encourage people of all age groups to engage in physical activity. Mersin Youth and Sports Provincial Directorate stated that it will continue to support amateur athletes with events organized in different branches throughout the year, and stated that it is pleasing that 3×3 Basketball Competitions attract great attention among young people.
While this year’s events once again demonstrated the unifying power of amateur sports, they were also etched in memories as an unforgettable experience for young basketball players from Mersin.
