Sliedrecht is gearing up to welcome new talent to the fast-paced world of badminton. The local association, Shuttle Up, is participating in the national “try Badminton Now” campaign, an initiative by Badminton Netherlands designed to make the sport more accessible than ever. This is your chance to experience the thrill of the world’s fastest racket sport.

For a nominal fee of just $25, aspiring players can dive into ten introductory training sessions kicking off in October. These sessions are lead by certified coaches, promising a blend of athletic challenge and pure fun. Think of it as a low-stakes tryout for a sport that demands lightning reflexes and strategic thinking, much like a fast game of tennis but on a smaller court and with a shuttlecock that defies gravity.

The introductory lessons are scheduled to accommodate various age groups. Youngsters aged 8 to 12 can hit the court on Thursday evenings from 6 PM to 7 PM at Sporthal De Valk. For the older youth, ages 13 to 18, sessions run on Monday evenings from 7 PM to 8 PM in sports hall De Stoep. Adults looking to get in on the action will also train in Sporthal De Stoep, with sessions held on Monday evenings from 8 PM to 9 PM.
