Romagna Arrow Route: October 17th Update

Among the various types of archery there is a little known but extremely fascinating and with a naturalistic imprint: it is the “instinctive” country shot. But what is it about? As the name suggests, this discipline, which has its roots in the mists of man’s times, takes place in a natural context, along paths in the woods located in the hill or in the mountains, in harmony with the environment. Traditional arches are used, without Mirini or other accessories, pulling in shapes of animals with a aim called “instinctive”, that is, without knowing the distance of the target and with natural obstacles that make the situation extremely realistic.

However, as they keep us to clarify the lovers of this sport, all happens at the utmost respect for the environment and absolutely without hurting real animals. Indeed, often around the woods you meet hares, roe deer, hawks and stops in silence to admire them, well aware of having to be educated and attentive guests. The countryside shooting has been involving for some years increasingly passionate, who find themselves to take walks by pulling arrows in the woods within the affixed paths prepared with realistic shapes but also to challenge each other in exciting races both in our region and throughout the national territory under the aegis of the Fiarc (Italian Federation Archers of Campaign).

In Forlì at the end of November 2021 the amateur sports association Frecce di Romagna was born, which promotes the countryside shooting by organizing courses, competitions and promotional events. The association has been the protagonist in recent years with its own stand and a shooting line in various public events, making hundreds of people try the emotion of the flight of an arrow.

Last February, with a view to making this sport known to the whole city, the Frecce di Romagna Association organized an Open Day in which dozens of people who eager to try the instinctive arc were attended. Given the great success, it was decided to replicate: Saturday, at the Canova artistic high school in Forlì, a new free open day will be held in which everyone will be able to try to pull, obviously in the maximum security and under the guidance of expert federal instructors. It will begin at 4 pm (entry from the high school gate in viale Saltore) and will end at 7 pm.

From 17 October the new course will then begin, the tenth in less than four years of life of the arrows of Romagna during which more than about sixty archers were formed, which will bring the students in eight lessons, half in the gym and half in the race field of the association inside the splendid forest of the Agriturismo La Ramiera a Piavola on the Cesenati hills, to learn the bases of the shooting with the instinctive arch.
