The Baja California government has officially inaugurated a new Archery Center of Excellence at the Tijuana High Performance Center (Centro de Alto Rendimiento Tijuana), establishing a specialized training hub designed to groom elite youth and senior archers for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, according to regional reports. The facility was developed through a combined investment of 20 million pesos, backed by the state government, the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (CONADE), World Archery México, and World Archery Americas, according to coverage.
Infrastructure and Training Capabilities at the Tijuana Complex
According to official reports, the newly opened facility features a specialized archery field equipped with rehabilitated synthetic turf and upgraded lighting. The complex also houses an armeria (armory), a strength and conditioning gymnasium, an athlete clinic, offices, and sanitation facilities designed to host training camps, international competitions, and qualifying tournaments. Athletes training at the center will receive comprehensive technical, methodological, and medical support.
Governor Marina del Pilar Avila Olmeda noted during the inauguration that Tijuana’s strategic proximity to California positions the city as an ideal preparation base for the upcoming Olympic cycle. “Here we will form, perfect, and strengthen the athletes who carry the colors of Mexico to the highest sporting event on the planet. From Baja California we will be boosting the Olympic dream of a generation of archers who will aim directly at the podium,” Avila Olmeda stated.
Institutional Collaboration and Elite Pathway
Beltrán Ramonetti emphasized the vital role of family support in developing young athletes, while CONADE General Director Rommel Pacheco Marrufo highlighted that the facility consolidates a high-performance hub featuring international coaches and a unified methodological system.
The inauguration ceremony featured a ribbon-cutting, an official tour of the grounds, and a demonstration by state-selected archers. The venue aims to boost both local athletic development and regional sporting events.
