The Xeral Secretariat for or Sports indicates that 66% of students in Galicia are among the program mutualists
The Xunta has announced that it is open, from this Monday, the call of the program ‘Galician Games Sports of School Age’ (Jugade) for the course 2025/2026.
The program, promoted in the scope of the Saudable Galicia Plan, currently has 146,622 mutualists, which represents 66% of the 221,671 students between 6 and 16 years in Galicia, according to data from the Secretariat Xeral for or Sports.
In addition, the almost 147,000 schoolchildren added 224,219 participations in activities, of which 124,438 were in federated sports activity and 99,781 in school sports activity.
As the Xeral Secretariat has transmitted, the result means an increase of 20% of participants compared to last year, and that means that “there are more young Galicians doing sports.”
In this sense, the Xeral Secretariat added that the Xogade in the next season “will continue to bet on inclusion”, and will seek to guarantee the “participation of all people, including those who have some functional diversity.”
He has also defended the regional organ that equality is driven in matters of diversity and gender. During the last season, he recalled that sports activities were carried out for 52% of boys and 48% girls.
Modalities
Regarding the sports offer via the program, the XOGADE maintains 16 modalities in school sports activity and will have 38 federations attached to the project in this next season.
In this way, the disciplines convened in the framework of the school sports activity will be athletics on the track, bádminton, basketball, handball, cross, duathlon, multi-sports meetings, room football, multi-fat 6-8, swimming, orientation, artistic skating, table tennis, volleyball, chess and playing with athletics.
Also, the 39 Galician sports federations that are in the Xogade will be: athletics, bádminton, sports dance, basketball, handball, baseball e sophol, birlos, boxing, hunting, cycling, native sport, nautical ski Kickboxing and Muay Thai, Kung-Fu, struggle and associated disciplines, motorcycling, swimming, orientation, paddle, canoeing, rowing, rugby, rescue and help, squash, surfing, taekwondo, tennis, table tennis, modern pentathlon triathlon, volleyball, chess and gymnastics.
