BANSKÁ BYSTRICA – Hockey club HC Monacobet Banská Bystrica introduced a new overseas reinforcement on Tuesday.

The 25-year-old Canadian defender Justin Lee, who signed an annual contract with an option for its extension, comes under Urpín. A native of Waskada in Manitoba, Canada, will play in Europe for the first time in the overseas competitions of NCAA, AHL and ECHL. With a height of 183 cm it is also valid in the offensive, in the 2023/24 season he scored 42 Canadian points in Wheeling Nailers in ECHL. In the past year he played 18 duels in the AHL.

“I decided to accept the offer because I felt comfortable during interviews with the club and I felt that this was a good opportunity and a suitable place for me. I would describe myself as a player against whom it is difficult to play – I am a two -way defender who can do a good first pass and do anything to win. Lee told the “Aries” club website.

Regarding the new acquisition, Ľuboš Pisár, General Manager of the HC Monacobet Banská Bystrica, said more about the new acquisition: “Justin comes as a young, but already experienced player with a successful university activity in Denver. He is a type of defender that connects the responsible defensive with good skating and discretion when working with the puck. We respond to injuries in our defense rows that have begun to accumulate.

At the same time, during August we get to know our newly formed team and together with the coaches we see where we need to move not only by training, but also by adding a cadre. The Signature of Justin is therefore an important step for us, and at the same time we continue to work to find the center that will increase the quality of our offensive. At the same time, we are still finalizing the signature of the contract with the Slovak defender, which we will also present in the coming days. “
