While Borussia Dortmund performs at the World Club Championships in the United States and lower victories in the conditions of unbearable heat and frequent trips, another battle takes place in the background-the business. The sports sector and leadership of the club use a unique opportunity to parallely to lay the team for the new season and make extremely lucrative jobs.
Working Summer for all – from field to office
For the coach of Niku Kovač and his expert headquarters, the club sp is a huge logistics challenge. Distribution of minutes, analysis of unknown opponents, daily trips and high temperatures require maximum focus. But the Sebastian Kehl sports director does not have an easy task – in law, his working hours further make time zones more difficult. Every morning in the USA begins early so that it can perform transatlantic talks with partners in Europe.
Transitional Road: Gittens, Moukoko, Coulibaly…
Kehl’s summer balance already looks impressive. The first big job was to buy Jobe Bellingham-a talented Englishman and younger brother Jude-who arrived in Dortmund before the tournament himself, after a personal engagement and meeting with Hans-Joachim Watzke. Unfortunately, they will not play in the quarterfinals because of the suspension, and brother-component Jude and Real Madrid will still remain spared the brotherly duel.
Even more sound is Jamie Gittens’ output transfer to Chelsea. After the initial bidding of bids, Kehl managed to get as much as 65 million euros from London (with bonuses) – a job that confirms his reputation of a solid negotiator. In parallel with this, youssoufa Moukoko was also sold to FC Copenhagen for the initial 5 million euros, with the possibility of additional revenue and significant salaries savings. The last in a series of departures is Soumail Coulibaly, who goes to Strasbourg for 7.5 million euros (+2 million through bonuses).
The following is an upgrade of the team
With the sale of only partially realized, the next moves are in front: the decisions on Salih Özcan and Giovanni Reyni are expected, and attention was re-directed towards Carney Chukwuemeki. Young coercion is currently playing for BVB on a loan from Chelsea, and if the Londoners are not selling this summer, Dortmund plans to try with a new loan and redemption option at an acceptable price.
A million contract with Puma
While Kehl runs sports operations, Carasten Cramer Marketing Director is working on a business front. In addition to talking with potential new partners during the US tournament, Cramer briefly returned to Germany to finalize the extension of the contract with Puma. The new contract with the German sports equipment manufacturer will provide additional millions at the club budget and further strengthen Borussia’s market position.
Borussia Dortmund is living a double intensity this summer – on the lawn in the fight for the world title and behind the scenes in the construction of a new sports and financial future. If the pace and the quality of work continues, the BVB could enter the new season more powerful than ever.
