Noble Confraternity of “Jemo ‘Nnanzi” Winery Gathers to Honor sant’Agnese and Elect New Leadership
On the evening of January 20, 2025, as the clock struck midnight and ushered in January 21, the Noble Confraternity of Devotees of the “Jemo ‘nnanzi” winery convened in the heart of L’Aquila’s historic center. The gathering took place at the ancestral Domus Zeccorum,a mansion nestled within the city walls on Via del Guasto since 1927. The event followed the cherished tradition of the “portetecheccosa,” a ritual that sets the tone for camaraderie and celebration. The evening commenced with a heartfelt toast to Aurelio Nolletti, the beloved master singer, whose spirit was felt even in his physical absence during the Sant’Agnese festivities. The night unfolded with a lavish feast, punctuated by witty humor and quintessentially Aquilan jokes, delivered with flair by Duilio Chilante, affectionately known as Dudu’ or Nonsaffronta. His bold exclamation of “offreghete!” echoed through the halls, while Sandro Zecca recounted the rich history of the Quarto di Santa Maria in vivid detail. Liliana Biondi, fresh from her recent theatrical triumph, “If you want rie sanu re-venete aju Renzu Pianu,” captivated the audience with her recitation of prayers in the local dialect, invoking the blessings of San Lustio for all present. As is customary, the Brotherhood tailored it’s discussions to address the most pressing issue gripping the city: the controversial Shelter in the Square. This topic sparked passionate debates and emotional exchanges, leading to the election of new leadership roles within the Confraternity.
