In the women’s final of the Joan Puig and Linda Tibbs Memorial, Bolsova defeated the young Basque Ane Mintegui in three sets (6-3 6-7 6-3) which in the semifinals had already surprised leaving out the white Marina Bassols. Mintegui, only 16 years old and twenty-ninth player in the state ranking, faced a much better player like Bolsova in a match that brought together many people yesterday morning on the central court of Club Tennis Girona, organizer of the Memorial Joan Puig and Linda Tibbs.
On the other hand, in the men’s final, Steven Díez had much less problems to beat Girona Tennis Pro Edu Esteve from Reus. In a match with two very different parts, Esteve faced Díez in the first set, resolved with the victory of the series leader in the tie-break, but then the physical problems took its toll on him. The match ended 7-6 and 6-0 for Díez.
