Steve Bruce still hopes to remain Newcastle manager as the takeover saga hits the club.
In difficult circumstances, Bruce has done an admirable job of keeping Newcastle out of the relegation danger in the Premier League and aiming for a top half finish.
The magpies are 12 points before the relegation zone and only six behind the seventh Tottenham.
And Bruce needs a strong end of the season to convince potential new Newcastle owners that he’s the right man to lead the club forward.
A number of names have been mentioned regarding Bruce’s work, including Sean Dyche and Mauricio Pochettino.

But the 59-year-old insists on what happens to the £ 300m takeover, nothing will change for him and he still wants to stay.
“As I have said repeatedly, whatever is best for Newcastle, I agree,” said Bruce.
“If that’s the best thing for Newcastle to do, it’s okay with me.
“Will I be Newcastle manager next year? I sincerely hope so.

“I really enjoyed the challenge of this great club, so I can only plan ahead, assume and make sure that we are still doing the work we would do.”

“Of course, what can we do when the transfer window opens to improve the squad in the future?
“I just keep going, soldier, and keep going.”
Newcastle legend Alan Shearer recently praised Bruce’s work in Newcastle.
“I think the squad he has is doing as good a job as anyone could have done,” said Shearer.
“I think he is doing a very good job and you shouldn’t have to warm up for him.
“It was only because of the circumstances in which he got the job, but he did well with the team he had and the position he was in.”
