In the last edition of Women to Sport, Macarena Miranda spoke with Judith Gonzálezprominent Chilean judoka, about her preparation for the Pan American Games of Santiago 2023.
The national athlete addressed her preparation for the mega sporting event after the injury suffered last October while competing in the South American Games. “I take the Pan American Games very seriously. It would be my third Games. It makes me a little nervous thinking about the competition, but I’m super excited,” she commented.
“I know what I’m going for, I’m preparing for it and injuries are part of the sport. One has to have the sporting maturity to know that it is time to rest and continue preparing. I am mentally ready for the events to come and I hope that I am physically ready as well.” added.
Along these lines, the silver medalist in the last South American Games expressed her desire to return to competitions. “I am very anxious to return to compete. I want to show all that I have advanced and all the competitive maturity that I have. The Santiago Open is coming up, then we go to Córdoba and we have between five or six tournaments before the Pan American Games. A good preparation is coming and I am very excited about what comes in these months ”, explained.

On the other hand, he referred to his difficult beginning in the discipline. “My sports beginnings were super complicated and very scary on the part of my parents. When you have a child with asthma and their lungs didn’t develop like any other child, they get scared. But over the years I was finding my methods and learning to take care of myself ”, acknowledged.
Along these lines, he valued the work at the Olympic Training Center (CEO). “I am currently recovering from an injury and both emotional and practical support is super important. The recovery, more than how serious it was, is the effectiveness that they give to the treatment and the comfort that one has. This is how these months have been and it has worked very well, ”he assured.
Finally, the Chilean judoka highlighted her experience in this sport. “Judo is a very particular sport. Its principles are to use the strength of the other to be able to carry out the actions.
