Van Gerwen wipes floor with Wright and reaches final Premier League night | Darts

Michael van Gerwen convincingly qualified for the final of the Premier League round in Liverpool on Thursday evening. The three-time world champion from Vlijmen crushed Peter Wright 6-1.

Van Gerwen is on a roll in the M&S Bank Arena. In the first round ‘Mighty Mike’ settled with big numbers against Jonny Clayton (6-2). Later in the evening he will face the winner of the semi-final between Nathan Aspinall and reigning world champion Michael Smith in the final.

In the match against Wright, Van Gerwen flew off the starting blocks. He immediately broke the two-time world champion from Scotland and easily took a 2-0 lead. Wright managed to clear the scoreboard in the ensuing leg, but Van Gerwen then reigned supreme.

Because Van Gerwen missed quite a few match arrows within sight of the harbor, his average dropped to a still decent 94.31 points. Wright could only match an average of 91.85 points.

Van Gerwen is in the lead after five Premier League evenings. De Brabander won the previous two meetings and cannot be traced in Liverpool anyway. The darts players will meet in Nottingham next week. On April 20, the circus will visit Ahoy in Rotterdam.
