The Syracuse University tackle impressed in Indianapolis, where the top prospects were gathered for the amateur auction. On the menu: medical tests, field training and interviews with league staff, spread over several days.

I just wanted to do the best I could for teams to see my athletic side. I think it’s one of my strengths in my game, to be able to move in an open spacecontinues Bergeron.

The latter has turned many heads precisely by his ability to move despite his imposing size of 6 ft 5 in (1.96 m) and 322 lbs ((146.1 kg). I’m well built, he laughs, but I move really well.

« It went beyond my expectations and even more! »

Prior to his move to the Colts’ home, the Colossus was ranked 5e among invited offensive linemen and 3e as a blocker.

If all goes as planned, Matthew Bergeron should therefore not wait long before receiving the precious call from the head coach of the team who will draft him. According to the draft analyst of NFL Network Daniel Jeremiah, the phone could ring as early as the end of the first round or the start of the second.

I’m really pampered in this position, because I know that not everyone has the chance to experience what I’m going through right now. I enjoy every momenthumbly launches the potential 23-year-old recruit on the phone.

If selected in the first round, he would then become the first Canadian to realize that fact since Toronto’s N’Keal Harry in 2019 and only the sixth since 1966.

One thing is certain, there is interest in Matthew Bergeron. He estimates that he spoke with members of 26 of the 32 NFL teams last week during interviews lasting about 20 minutes each.

football, ils te posent des questions, tu regardes du film. Ils te posent des questions sur ta vie en général, mais aussi sur ta connaissance sur le jeu du football et comment tu connais ton propre cahier de jeux. Honoring Quebec

Another Quebecer could also be selected in the draft. Sidy Sow, from Bromont, who plays on the offensive line at Eastern Michigan University, also showed his skills in front of the Goodell circuit scouts.

For Matthew Bergeron, it is clear that there is a passion for football in Quebec and that more and more representatives of the Belle Province will be noticed in the years to come.

I think that each year, there will be even more players from Quebec and Canada at these training camps. Football in Quebec, I think it will grow from year to year and it’s because of guys like me, like Benjamin [St-Juste], like Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, Anthony Auclair. There are a lot of guys who have gone that route to open doors for people like me and Sidy Sow and I think the two of us are going to do the same for generations to come.

Bergeron returned to California to train and familiarize himself with the NFL environment before the draft was held in Kansas City from April 27-29. He will live all surrounded by his family and close friends in Victoriaville.
