The Baskets Oldenburg have reached the final of the BBL Cup. The Lower Saxony prevailed in the Final Four tournament in their home hall against Ludwigsburg on Saturday with 92:86 (37:49). The opponent in the final today at 3 p.m. is FC Bayern, who defeated the cup defender Alba Berlin.

“It doesn’t matter who comes – we want to win this thing,” Baskets professional Alen Pjanic had sent a declaration of war immediately after the Oldenburg victory. The Oldenburg dream of being able to lift the cup for the second time since 2015 lives mainly thanks to an energetic performance in the second half of the game against Ludwigsburg. The best pitcher in the baskets was DeWayne Russell with 26 points. Justin Johnson shone with the guests with 19 points.

“It was once again a great comeback. We were challenged and we accepted the challenge. That’s good,” said Oldenburg coach Pedro Calles.

Club legend Paulding among the spectators

In front of the eyes of club legend Rickey Paulding, Oldenburg got off to a good start in their own hall and quickly pulled away to 8:2. But then the Ludwigsburg team improved and scored in an impressive manner, especially from a distance. Before the break, the giants sunk nine of 17 threes – at the break Ludwigsburg was up twelve points (49:37). Also because the baskets made too many ball losses. Above all, Hassani Gravett, who was only signed last week, has not yet bonded with his new teammates.
