A decisive pass for his return
Top scorer in the Bundesliga before his injury (12 goals in 15 days), Nkunku resumed collective training this week. Leipzig coach Marco Rose gave him some playing time on Saturday afternoon, four days before Manchester City’s reception in the knockout stages of the Champions League (Wednesday, 9:00 p.m.).
During this big twenty minutes, Nkunku had an opportunity in the 81st and offered an assist to Konrad Laimer (85th). Leipzig finally won 3-0 and took advantage of Munich’s defeat at Mönchengladbach to come back to within four points of the lead (43 against 39).
In addition to the World Cup, the French international missed five league matches and one Cup match. In his absence, Leipzig marked time in the Bundesliga, with two draws, one defeat and only one victory.
