Maika Burgaleta becomes the first Navarrese with the Seventh Dan black belt – Sports – PLAZA NUEVA

The judoka from Tudel Maika Burgaleta Úcar, technical director of the Judo Club Ribera Navarra, has become on December 3 the first woman from Navarre to achieve the Seventh Dan Judo black belt. In addition, at 46 years old, she has been the youngest to achieve it, and one of the few judokas who have obtained it through an official exam, which took place in Madrid. Burgaleta was examined after the minimum seven years of permanence in the Sixth Dan required by the Spanish Judo Federation.

During last Saturday, Día de Navarra, the athlete completed the last course remaining to complete the series of required training, and successfully passed the technical and Katas exam necessary to obtain the Seventh Dan Judo black belt, Koshiki-No -kata. At the same time she obtained a second belt of her choice, which was the Goshin Jitsu-No-Kata. The exam took place at the Villaviciosa de Odón Municipal Sports Center, Madrid.

The preparation carried out by the Tudelana woman consisted of eighteen official technical courses given by the great masters of the Madrid Judo Federation, as well as weekly training sessions at the ‘El Templo’ gym in Madrid with Uke, Tibor Kozma, in recent months- He has also maintained numerous daily training sessions at his club, with the collaboration of several of his students.

The belt was awarded by Sacramento Moyano, the only Spanish woman who holds the 9* Dan, along with four other male colleagues who complete the group of athletes in Spain with the aforementioned Dan. As a climax, at the end of this act, a fellow judoka and sculptor delivered one of her works to Burgaleta; a white and red steel belt.

The judoka from Ribera Navarra will continue to wear her current white-red belt, which represents the High Degrees (Masters) of Judo, but with one more Dan in her record.
