Sevilla keeps its chances after the victory over Copenhagen

Sevilla gave the first drowning slap in an edition of the UEFA Champions League in which the future appears complex. Their 3-0 win this Tuesday over Copenhagen He keeps him with options, although he does not depend on himself to reach the round of 16.

Those led by Jorge Sampaoli won without too much left over against the weakest in Group G and now have 5 units, two from Borussia Dortmund and five from Manchester City. These two teams will meet in the second round of games in Germany and a win by BVB will eliminate the Andalusian team.

However, even the eventual defeat of the German team against Pep Guardiola’s team will not reserve good chances for the Spanish team, given that on the last day they will go to the Etihad to face the Citizens and Dortmund will close against the Danes.

It is clear that the outlook for Sevilla looks adverse from the weak start to the season, which even took Julen Lopetegui in his position as coach. The tests were revealed by a weak collective operation and the results in the League that did not accompany: 2 wins, 4 draws and 5 losses. Likewise, it is only now that he obtains his first success in the international tournament after two draws and another couple of falls.

It was not surprising, then, that those from Nervión had such a hard time overcoming those from the Danish capital. Argentine Alejandro Papu Gómez looked for a tepid shot from outside the area, while Suso tested the reflexes of the rival goalkeeper, Kamil Grabara.

Hakon Haraldsson gave a warning during that first half for the visitor, but Marko Dmitrovic frustrated his chance to open the scoring. Ivan Rakitic was the next to notice the Danish goal and, later, Suso was another of those who collided with the Polish Grabara.

Although they had a bad time in the complement, due to a shot on the post by William Clem and another with a header by Kevin Diks, the locals found the advantage thanks to Youssef En Nesyri, who was right after the assistance of the Argentine Papu Gómez at 15′ .

Close to closing it was Marcos Acuña who orchestrated the play, he was patient and thought before unloading the ball for Isco. The former Real Madrid was dispatched with a huge shot to place from the left sector of the door of the large area and endorsed the victory.

A shot by Lamela that forced Grabara to rebound led to a goal by Gonzalo Montiel, who followed the play with concentration and did not miss his opportunity to score the third.

Sevilla has one game left in search of the feat: win in Manchester against City and wait for a stumble by Dortmund. Otherwise, it will be destined for the Europa League at the international level.
