Fürth comes out of the cabin as if transformed, then the big tremor begins
Greuther Fürth has been waiting for a win across all leagues for half a year. Even against FC St. Pauli it is not enough for the Bundesliga relegated team, despite a strong phase after the break. Paderborn regained the lead in the table after a long majority.
WMore frustration in Fürth: A late goal by Connor Metcalfe for FC St. Pauli cost Greuther Fürth, who had been relegated to the Bundesliga, their first win of the season. In the 2:2 (0:1) on Saturday, the Hamburg joker scored in the 85th minute with a well-placed left-footed shot from 16 meters. For the Fürth it was already the fourth draw in the seventh game. The end result was deserved. The Fürth team of new coach Marc Schneider wasn’t really there in front of 10,553 spectators in the first half of the game. After the break, however, the Franconians initially appeared transformed. Captain Branimir Hrgota (48th) initially compensated for the deficit through Marcel Hartel. Shortly thereafter, Paulis Jackson Irvine headed a cross from Tobias Raschl, which he wanted to clear, unhappily into his own goal (52nd). In the first half, Irvine hit the top of the bar with his head (30′).
St. Pauli earned the late draw, while Fürth were increasingly constricted on the defensive. Before the 2:2, Leart Paqarada shot a penalty kick awarded after video evidence to the lower edge of the crossbar (72nd). SC Paderborn has regained the lead in the table. Thanks to the well-deserved 1-0 (0-0) win over 1. FC Magdeburg, coach Lukas Kwasniok’s team again overtook Heidenheim, who had temporarily taken over the lead the day before after beating Düsseldorf 2-1. In front of 11,213 spectators in the Home Deluxe Arena, Marvin Pieringer (79th) ensured East Westphalia’s victory. The fourth success in the fourth home game was favored by the yellow-red card for Jamie Lawrence from Magdeburg (40th).
For a long time, the guests, who had never lost a league game against Paderborn before, fought an equal duel with the favorites. Apart from the great SC chance by Florent Muslija (26th), they even had more of the game until Lawrence was sent off.
After the break, however, the pressure from Paderborn increased. Former Magdeburg player Sirloh Conteh (48′) and Felix Platte (61′) initially missed even the best of opportunities. Only the late hit by Pieringer gave the leader the win.
Jahn Regensburg – Holstein Kiel 0-0
Holstein Kiel has completed the longest away trip of the season with a partial success. Just over 600 kilometers as the crow flies from home, the North Germans drew 0-0 at Jahn Regensburg on Saturday. It was the first goalless game of the season for the “Storks”. The possible jump towards promotion places was missed.
Holstein coach Marcel Rapp changed the starting lineup to two positions. Philipp Sander and Simon Lorenz made the starting eleven for Julian Korb and Aleksandar Ignjovski. Joshua Mees, who was loaned out from Kiel, was allowed to play for Regensburg from the start. After a cautious start, Holstein got into the game better. In the 18th minute, Benedikt Pichler headed just wide of the goal after a corner.
As a result, the two teams neutralized each other. The number of errors and inaccuracies increased at both Kiel and Regensburg. After the break, the guests had more time in the game, but they didn’t create a clear chance either.
