One medal for Latvia in roller skiing of the World Cup on the last day in Madona / Article

At the beginning of the distance, Auziņa immediately settled in the top three together with Italian Eliza Sordello and Swedish Jacqueline Lockner. It continued until the penultimate lap, when the Italian and the Swede ran away from Auzina. At the finish, Sordelo also broke away from Lockner and celebrated the victory. The Scandinavian remained second, while Kitija Auzinas finished third.

In an interview with Latvian Television, Auziņa told that the plan was to stay with the leaders in the distance until the end, but the fatigue accumulated in the three days before the competition made itself felt.

In the junior world championship, the victory went to Italy again, which was provided by Anna Marta Gidija. The best of the Latvians, Samanta Krampe, remained eighth.

Raimo Vīgants was Latvia’s main hope in the men’s 20-kilometer distance. Everything became clear again at the finish line, where Wiegants finished fourth after passing three Italians. Only one tenth of a second separated him from the bronze.

In an interview with Latvian Television, Vīgants said that he felt good, but he was also feeling tired from the previous days of the competition.

Even for juniors, everything was resolved at the finish in 20 kilometers. Swede Malte Juterdals won, but the best Latvian Sandijs Suhanovs ranked 8th.
