The Red Sox defeat the Yankees with a ‘walk-off’ by Alex Verdugo

Mexican American outfielder Alex Verdugo drove in two runs in the tenth inning as the Red Sox defeated the New York Yankees 6-5 on Saturday.

Leading 4-5 in the bottom of the tenth inning, Verdugo hit a walk-off single that allowed Rob Refsnyder and Colombian Jeter Downs to score for the Red Sox.

Verdugo brought the euphoria to Fenway Park in Boston (USA) and gave the local team its first victory in this four-game series against the Yankees after the losses they suffered against the New Yorkers on Thursday and Friday.

Verdugo finished with three RBIs, Refsnyder added a home run and two runs and Downs had an RBI and two runs scored.

For the Yankees, Anthony Rizzo drove the ball out of the park and drove in two runs, and Gleyber Torres scored one of his team’s five runs.

Jake Diekman (4-0) took the victory for the Bostonians with two runs conceded in a work episode (the tenth) while Dominican Wandy Peralta (2-2) took the loss for the Yankees by allowing the three runs with which the Red Sox won the victory in the tenth inning.
