Jupiler Pro League calendar: a clash for Standard and Brugge, Anderlecht will start their season against Oostende

The 2022-2023 season of the Belgian football championship will start on July 22 with a poster between Standard and La Gantoise (8:45 p.m.), according to the calendar for the new Jupiler Pro League season unveiled on Wednesday by the Pro League. The defending champion, Club Brugge, will host Genk on this first day.

The 2022-2023 calendar is turned upside down by the World Cup in Qatar. Scheduled from November 21 to December 18, the 2022 World Cup is forcing national competitions into a long winter break.

The first day will take place on the weekend of July 22-23-34 before a first break in mid-November for the World Cup. The season will then resume at the end of December before a short winter break. The 2022-2023 fiscal year should end in early June.

The 2022-2023 season will be the last with 18 clubs in D1A, before a return to 16 in 2023-2024, which means that three teams will switch to the Challenger Pro League at the end of the season.

The Pro League also gives several other big posters: “The first Super Sunday will take place during the weekend of November 4, with the match KRC Genk – Sporting Charleroi, the Battle of Flanders between KAA Gent and Club Brugge and the between Royal Antwerp FC and RSC Anderlecht. Until then, we can prepare with many derbies: R. Union SG – RSC Anderlecht (August 28), Club Brugge – Cercle Brugge and KRC Genk – STVV (matchday 7 ), Sporting Charleroi – Standard de Liège (matchday 11) and KV Kortrijk – Zulte Waregem (matchday 12).”

Note that the first Clasico between Standard and Anderlecht will be played on matchday 14.
