1. JC Mönchengladbach turns the tables

At the break, 1. JC Mönchengladbach was still behind in the 2nd Judo Bundesliga against JC Koriouchi Gelsenkirchen, but then celebrated a strong comeback with an increase in performance. The Gladbach women also clinched two wins and are on course for the title in the NRW league

On the day of the fight in mid-May, 1. JC Mönchengladbach went into the break against TSV Bayer Leverkusen with a lead, but then unfortunately lost the duel against the leaders of the 2nd Judo Bundesliga. From the point of view of the Gladbach judoka, it was the other way around on Saturday. In Gelsenkirchen, 1. JC was 3:4 behind JC Koriouchi at the break, but then turned the duel in his favor.

Raymond de Vos brought Gladbach into the lead with an early victory in the weight class up to 100 kilograms. Since Gelsenkirchen could not provide a fighter in the category up to 60 kilograms, Badr Alsbini won his encounter without a fight. However, things didn’t go so smoothly for the 1st JC: Daniel Vishnevski (-73 kg) and Aslanbek Kagermanov (-81 kg) had to admit defeat to their opponents. Eldar Tliashinov (+100 kg) put Gladbach back in the lead with his win, but Alexander Kestering (-90 kg) and Alexander Wegele (-66 kg) lost their fights at the end of the first round. So we went into the break 3-4 down.

The duel in Gelsenkirchen remained contested in the second half. Raymond de Vos, in strong form, made the start again and remained undefeated in his sixth fight of the season. Since the weight class up to 60 kilograms remained vacant on the part of the hosts, Paul Kral also scored a point without a fight for the 1st JC – the Mönchengladbachers thus took a 5:4 lead. In contrast to the first half of the season, Vishnevski and Kagermanov were able to win their fights with Ippon this time. With his second victory of the day, Tliashinov took the decisive eighth point in the heavyweight division for Gladbach to win the fight early. The subsequent defeats of Christoph Kawan (-90 kg) and Wegele were therefore no longer significant.

With two clear victories on Saturday, the Gladbach judo women also had a successful weekend on the second day of the home fight of the season in the NRW league. The 1. JC won 6:1 against the 1. JJJC Dortmund. Julia Tillmanns (+78 kg), Sheena Zander (-63 kg), Lisa Hiller (-57 kg), Emma Schreiber (-48 kg), Jana Schmitz (-52 kg) and Jana Lecloux (-70 kg) scored the points. . Only Lara Schmidt (-78 kg) had to admit defeat to her opponent. Afterwards there was a convincing victory for the 1. JC against Kentai Bochumn. Tillmanns, Hiller, Schreiber and Schmitz and this time Anja Vishnevskaya (-63 kg) scored the points in the 5:2 win. Leonie Grabowski (-78 kg) and Ionna Amarantidou (-70 kg), on the other hand, were unable to assert themselves against their opponents.

Due to the victories, the team around the trainers Melina Dörbandt and Jasmin Grabowski is clearly on course for promotion after half of the fighting days and is the undefeated leader of the NRW league. The women continue on June 12th with a double fight day. Then there are the fights against JJJC Yamanashi Porz and TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen. The men have a week longer in the 2nd Bundesliga to regenerate. On June 18, the 1st JC meets the judo team Holten, which is also in the top group in the table.
