Football: a new case of Covid-19 in Strasbourg, Montpellier opponent on Sunday

Strasbourg midfielder Jean-Eudes Aholou tested positive for the coronavirus this Thursday, December 30. Like his coach, Julien Stephan, the Ivorian player will not be traveling to La Mosson this Sunday (4 p.m.), during the round of 16 of the Coupe de France.

The new outbreak of Covid-19 is not sparing football. If for the moment the Montpellier HSC has not declared any case, the Racing Club de Strasbourg accuses a new one: the midfielder Jean-Eudes Aholou was positive this Thursday, according to our colleagues from the DNA, and will miss the trip to Hérault Sunday, during the round of 16 of the Coupe de France.

This absence comes on top of that of his trainer, Julien Stephan, forced to miss the resumption of Racing on Wednesday and placed in solitary confinement after a positive test during the holidays.

Contact case but tested negative on his return from Côte d’Ivoire, Aholou for his part had to observe a period of isolation and be tested daily.

But “the last test he passed was positive. He is asymptomatic and must remain in isolation,” said Kader Mangane, the sports coordinator of Racing, to the regional daily.

With Djiku and Diallo before the CAN

If Racing has to compose without its midfielder, it can however count on Alexander Djiku and Habib Diallo.

The Ghanaian defender native of Montpellier and the Senegalese striker were released by their respective selections to play the Coupe de France match this weekend before the start of the CAN (from January 9 to February 6 in Cameroon).
