The Llanera squad celebrates the victory against UD Logroñés
UD Llanera
The Llanera continues to write pages in its history. The Harlequin team has achieved today a long-suffering victory (2-1) in the Copa del Rey, which guarantees them to face a First Division rival in the next round. Javi Sánchez, with a goal from a corner in the 85th minute, has become the hero of the night. The feat has more merit if possible, since the Llanerenses played the match in exile: they had to travel to Ganzábal, in Langreo, because their stadium did not meet the necessary conditions to host the match.
Despite the difference in category – Llanera plays in the Second RFEF, the fourth rung of Spanish football, and UD Logroñés in the First RFEF, the third -, the match was highly contested, with a superior Asturian team in the first half. The dominance of the harlequins was materialized in a goal by Martín Pérez in the 41st minute, just off a corner. After passing through the changing rooms, UD Logroñés came out better in the game. Duba, in the 61st minute, also put the tables after a corner bounce. The good suffering from Llanero was rewarded in 85, when Javi Sánchez, in a play launched from the corner, put the final 2-1.
This victory means Llanera’s pass to the next round of the Copa del Rey, in which, yes or yes, they will face a First Division team. The draw in which they will meet their rival will take place tomorrow.
