Double bronze secured for badminton in El Salvador

Uriel Canjura beat Brazilian Oliveira 21-19 and 21-18, for which he won a bronze medal and qualified for the badminton semifinals at the 2021 Cali-Valle Junior Pan American Games.

Although the match was difficult, the athlete came back in the first set, thus achieving the desired victory. “In the first set I was losing 11-5 but I knew that was an opportunity so I had to draw strength and thank God the result was given,” said Canjura through tears of emotion.

After that meeting with the Brazilian, Uriel had to do a double with Fatima Centeno, but one of the players they would face was injured so they secured a double bronze for Team El Salvador.

“Double bronze secured for El Salvador badminton, as the Canjura-Centeno duo advanced to the semis in a mixed double by default: one of the rival players (Aruba) was injured. Both semis are tonight ”, published the ESA Olympic Committee.
