From Monday all of Austria will go into its fourth lockdown! In the domestic Bundesliga, ghost games are once again part of everyday life.
The ripcord was pulled: Austria is ramping up the tough measures again due to the current corona situation. Of course, sport does not remain unaffected by this. Deja-vú takes place in the Bundesliga: the ghost games are back!
The last chance to visit the stadium in 2021 will probably only be offered the coming weekend. The fourth lockdown will begin on Monday.
The Bundesliga should continue to play. Only fans will no longer be allowed. “We all know that football is not the same without fans,” said league boss Christian Ebenbauer in an interview with ORF.
“In the last year and a half we have proven that we can continue playing with the greatest possible security for everyone in the stadium. That’s why we’re firmly assuming that the game can continue”, Ebenbauer continued.
