Strong performance from Andreas Seppi.

Andreas Seppi from Kaltern is playing the qualification for the Masters 1000 tournament in Paris these days. At the beginning he managed a strong exclamation mark.

The prestigious tournament in the Bercy district of Paris is the last of the Masters 1000 series this year. Andreas Seppi (ATP 98) took a big step towards the main draw on Saturday: In the first qualifying round he beat the favored Spaniard Pedro Martinez (ATP 58) in two sets with 7: 5, 6: 3.

Seppi showed great fighting spirit, especially in the first sentence. There he promptly had to fend off two breakballs, but gave up the service a little later and was in the meantime 2: 4 behind. In a true break festival, the 37-year-old got the momentum back on his side: first he fended off a set ball and a little later closed the set to 7: 5 himself.

Decisive game on Sunday

Both players performed better in the second round. Game number 8 proved to be decisive, in which Seppi broke his opponent, set it to 5: 3 and shortly afterwards used the match point to make it 6: 3.

A very solid performance by the South Tyrolean, who fights for a ticket for the main draw on Sunday in the second, decisive qualifying round against the winner of the match between Mikael Ymer (ATP 101) from Sweden and the Spaniard Carlos Taberner (ATP 93).
