It is by force that the suspect entered this Friday evening in this house in the Klaproosstraat in Torhout. A place that was obviously not chosen at random since it is the home of the vice-president of the local N-VA, reports the Nieuwsblad. MV, 54, also a teacher, was suddenly confronted with an intruder in his home.
The man broke down the front door before attacking him with a baseball bat. The suspect then grabbed a kitchen knife and kicked it several times before fleeing. Finally arrested by the police, he was questioned but the prosecution refuses to comment for the moment. “We cannot yet say anything about his motivations,” one explains to the Flemish media.
Taken to hospital, the 50-year-old was seriously injured but is not in danger of death. He has several cuts and bruises on his face.
The suspect will be brought before the examining magistrate.
