It wasn’t long before the Indianapolis Colts made Darius Leonard the highest-paid inside linebacker in the National Football League.
The Colts and Leonard have reportedly agreed to the terms of a five-year contract extension worth US $ 99.25 million, informant Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday.
The agreement, of which $ 52.5 million is guaranteed, should allow Leonard to pocket $ 20 million per year in each of the first three years.
Leonard was named to the All-Star Team in each of his first three seasons. He was notably selected on the first team in 2018 and 2020. The former second-round pick has been a model of consistency since the start of his career, registering 9.9 tackles per game.
