DES MOINES, Iowa – Canada’s Stephen Ames won Sunday’s Principal Charity Classic for a second career victory on the PGA Champions Tour.

Ames took advantage of a major collapse from Tim Herron and handed in a 67 (minus-5) card to show a cumulative minus-12 score.

Ames, who was seven strokes behind Herron before starting his round, beat his compatriot Mike Weir (69), who seized the second echelon alone.

Quadruple champion on the PGA Tour, Ames triumphed at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic in 2017 to secure his first senior title.

Herron committed three bogeys in his last five holes and played 76. He missed an opportunity to secure a first win on the Champions Tour and had to settle for third place.

Willie Wood (68) and Doug Barron (71) joined Herron with a cumulative score of minus-10.
