Point guard Yuki Togashi achieved a significant personal milestone on November 6, recording his 1,000th career rebound in the B.League, becoming the 196th player in the league’s history to reach the mark, according to Yahoo!ニュース. The feat came during a thrilling overtime victory for the Chiba Jets against the rival Altiri Chiba, a game where Togashi’s impact extended far beyond the rebound stat sheet.
The 33-year-old Togashi, standing at just 167 centimeters tall, is not a traditional rebounding player by position. Yet, since the B.League’s inaugural 2016-17 season, he has consistently contributed on the glass for the Jets. He entered the LaLa arena TOKYO-BAY contest needing just two more rebounds to reach the 1,000-rebound plateau. He secured the first of those in the opening quarter, putting him one away from the milestone. The historic rebound came with 5 minutes and 31 seconds remaining in the second quarter, as he grabbed a defensive board after a missed three-point shot by Altiri Chiba’s D.J. Newbill.
Togashi’s All-Around Performance Secures a Victory
The significance of Togashi’s milestone was amplified by his performance in the same game. He played for 31 minutes and 44 seconds, finishing with a stat line of 22 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1 block. His three-point shooting was particularly effective, as he connected on 3 of his attempts from beyond the arc. The game itself was a tightly contested affair that required overtime to decide a winner.
In the extra period, Togashi’s clutch play was decisive. With the Jets trailing, he scored a jump shot in the paint with 1 minute and 17 seconds left in overtime, giving his team an 86-84 lead. He later sealed the victory by making a free throw and, most dramatically, blocking a potential game-tying three-point attempt from Newbill with just 5 seconds remaining on the clock. The Jets ultimately won 89-87, securing a hard-fought win over their local rivals.
A Career Built on Consistent Contribution
Togashi’s achievement highlights his durability and consistent value to the Chiba Jets over nearly a decade. Of his 1,001 total rebounds, 841 have been defensive and 160 have been offensive. He has reached the 100-rebound mark in a single season four times, during the 2016-17, 2018-19, 2022-23, and 2023-24 seasons.
This season, he is on pace to add another 100-rebound campaign. Through the early part of the 2026-27 season, he is averaging 1.7 rebounds per game.
