TTT Rīga Defeats Elitzur Ramla in FIBA EuroCup to Boost Playoff Hopes

TTT Rīga secured an 80-75 home victory over Israeli club Elitzur Ramla on Wednesday in the FIBA EuroCup, avenging an earlier defeat against the same opponent earlier in the week as reported by LSM.

While the win boosts playoff hopes for the Latvian club in Group F, a basket conceded in the final second ensured that Elitzur Ramla claimed the aggregate advantage across their two-game matchup.

Aigara Neripa un Kaspara Mājenieka trenētās rīdzinieces opened the match aggressively with several fast breaks. Robin Benton hit two three-pointers to push the lead to 11 points at 16:5 midway through the first quarter. Elitzur briefly trimmed the deficit, but TTT Rīga closed the period ahead 26–13 following two accurate free throws by Anete Ozoliņa.

The second quarter saw the home side extend its advantage further. Despite a subsequent defensive lapse that allowed Elitzur to cut into the lead, TTT Rīga maintained a 49-34 advantage at halftime.

Elitzur Ramla surged out of the halftime break, reducing the deficit to eight points at 49:41 within minutes. TTT Rīga carried an 11-point lead into the final quarter at 68:57, tightening its defense to prevent the score difference from narrowing dangerously.

In the tense closing minutes, Griffin assumed the offensive leadership role to preserve the victory.

Aubrey Griffin led all scorers for the victors with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Ieva Pulvere, Laura Grunmane, and Enija Ķīvīte each contributed 14 points for TTT Rīga. For Elitzur Ramla, Imari Tomasa led the scoring with 28 points.

The result follows a busy schedule in Group F. On Monday, TTT Rīga had lost to Elitzur 76:82 at home. Earlier in the campaign, Rīdzinieces defeated Romania’s Universitatea Cluj 84:62 away on October 22, but subsequently fell 72:91 at home to Italian club Umana Reyer. The FIBA EuroCup serves as the second-strongest women’s club tournament in Europe, featuring 48 clubs divided into 12 groups in the regular season.

The top two teams from each group, alongside the four best third-place finishers, advance to the playoff phase. TTT Rīga is contesting the FIBA EuroCup main stage for the fourth season, having missed the playoffs last year after securing only two wins in the group stage.
