Three months before the opening ceremony, the 23rd Coppa Italia delle Regioni Memorial Gino Mattielli has unveiled its logo, and the 2025 edition of Italian archery’s marquee regional team competition will bring 21 regional delegations to the Giardini della Reggia di Venaria, on the outskirts of Turin, for a three-day shoot June 27-29, Fitarco reported.
The tournament, one of the most anticipated events on the federal season calendar, pits regional squads against one another across three headline disciplines — two target events and one field event — in the chase for the 2025 trophy.
Twenty-One Regions, Three Disciplines, One Trophy
Each of Italy’s 21 regional delegations will send archers to contest the three star competitions: two on the target range and one in the field discipline. Both target and field events will be staged at the same site, a logistical choice that organizers say simplifies operations and lets spectators follow the action across disciplines without moving venues.
The format rewards depth as much as precision. Delegations must balance results across the disciplines, and the combined standings decide who lifts the trophy on Sunday evening.
Piedmont Holds the Record — and This Year’s Hosting Duties
Piedmont enters the 2025 edition as the most decorated region in the competition’s honor roll, with seven titles — 2002, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2013 and 2016 — giving it the outright lead in the all-time standings.
This year the region is doubling as host. After staging the 2021 edition in Asti, Piedmont returns to the organizing role, with the 2025 competition set inside the gardens of the Reggia di Venaria, just outside Turin. The venue has evolved into a striking blend of ancient and contemporary, pairing archaeological remains with modern art installations — a backdrop organizers describe as a perfect stage for one of the season’s most complex and emotionally intense events.
Royal Gardens Become the Stage June 27-29
The competition runs over the weekend of June 27-29. Friday afternoon, June 27, is reserved for practice shots and the opening ceremony. Saturday, June 28, brings the qualification rounds and the first elimination phases. Sunday, June 29, closes the event with the finals and the awards ceremony.
The organizing committee, working with the Reggia di Venaria, the Municipality of Venaria Reale, local institutions and the clubs Arcieri Sentiero Selvaggio and Arcieri delle Alpi, is already handling logistics so that archers, coaches, entourages, staff and volunteers get the smoothest possible event.
What Archery Fans Should Know Before Venaria
- When: Friday June 27 through Sunday June 29, with practice and the opening ceremony Friday afternoon, qualifying Saturday and finals plus the awards ceremony Sunday.
- Where: Giardini della Reggia di Venaria, Venaria Reale, near Turin, in Italy’s Piedmont region.
- Who: 21 regional delegations competing across two target events and one field event.
- Favorite: Piedmont, with seven all-time titles, is both the record holder and the host.
The one detail that frames the weekend: every discipline shoots at the same gardens, so a single trip to Venaria covers the full program from Friday’s opening to Sunday’s medal ceremony.
