The CDSA 64 sports association has launched a dedicated judo program for children under 12 as part of its “Mercredi ? SAJ !” initiative, CDSA 64 reported. The new activity cycle, taking place at the Dojo Léo Lagrange in Pau, is designed to introduce young participants to the fundamentals of judo through structured sessions focused on groundwork and immobilization techniques.

Judo Cycle Runs from April to May

The judo cycle is one of several sports activities offered under the “Mercredi ? SAJ !” program, which provides sporting opportunities for individuals under 21 every Wednesday afternoon during school terms. The sessions are held at the Dojo Léo Lagrange, located on Rue Jean Genèse in Pau, running from 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m.

The judo cycle will be available during the fourth period, which runs from April to May. This placement allows children to engage in the activity during the spring term, complementing other seasonal sports offerings like cross-country, swimming, table tennis, athletics, and skiing that are part of the broader “Mercredi ? SAJ !” schedule.

Sessions Focus on Practical Skills

The judo sessions are led by Erick Dallez, an instructor from the CD Judo 64, the local judo committee. The curriculum is centered on core judo principles, with a strong emphasis on practical skills such as groundwork drills and immobilization techniques.

Integration into Broader Youth Sports Initiative

The “Mercredi ? SAJ !” initiative aims to offer a diverse range of sporting experiences to encourage discovery and participation. The year-long schedule includes event days in September-October and a grand closing day in June that brings together all participants from across the department.

By offering a variety of sports in cycles, the program allows children to explore different disciplines throughout the year.

Registration Limited to Under-12 Children

Registration for the under-12 judo cycle is managed by Claudine Sauzedde of the CDSA 64. Interested parents or guardians can contact her directly via email at [email protected] or by phone at 06 17 72 70 25. The CDSA 64 has specified that spaces in this program are limited to children under 12 years of age.

The judo cycle at the Dojo Léo Lagrange represents a significant addition to the “Mercredi ?”

Next Steps in the “Mercredi ? SAJ !” Calendar

Following the April-May judo cycle, the “Mercredi ? SAJ !” program will conclude its fifth period from May to June. The final event of the year, a closing day scheduled for late June, will bring together all participants from the various sports cycles for a communal celebration of the year’s activities. Parents are advised to contact the CDSA 64 for specific dates and details regarding the end-of-year event as the date approaches.
