Tezli Football Academy to Get Gym and Indoor Games

The Yamuna Nagar district sports department plans to introduce a gymnasium for residential football academy players, aiming to improve their daily routine and overall development, Amarujala reported.

The initiative is part of a broader effort to expand facilities at the Tejli Sports Complex, where the academy operates. District officials have submitted a formal request to the sports directorate, outlining plans for the gym as well as other upgrades.

Facility Expansion at Tejli Sports Complex

The proposed gymnasium is central to a plan to enhance the residential environment for the 25 student-athletes currently training at the academy. These players, who come from various districts in the state, reside and receive training at the complex, which is run jointly by the district sports department and the Yamuna Nagar Football Association.

The request to the directorate also includes plans to install large LED screens and to provide facilities for indoor games such as table tennis, carrom, and chess. The district sports department stated that the goal is to make better use of the players’ free time and to support their all-around growth.

Focus on Player Development and Well-being

“The department’s plan is not limited to entertainment, but also focuses on improving the residential atmosphere of the academy,” said Shilpa Gupta, the District Sports Officer. She emphasized that the department is striving to provide a better environment for the players, not just for training but also for their studies, recreation, and other essential activities.

Gupta explained that the expansion of facilities will allow players to have a better environment within the academy itself, reducing their need to go outside for small requirements. The proposal includes demands for a television, a gym, and other amenities to support the players’ well-being. These facilities will be provided once the budget is approved by the directorate.

Current Academy Operations

The residential football academy at Tejli Sports Complex provides players with lodging, meals, and professional football training. The program is designed to give young athletes from across the region access to high-quality coaching in a dedicated residential setting. The current cohort of 25 players undergoes a structured daily regimen focused on skill development and physical conditioning.

The planned enhancements are seen as a critical next step in elevating the academy’s standard of care and training. By integrating fitness equipment, leisure activities, and improved living conditions, officials hope to create a more holistic and supportive ecosystem for the athletes, potentially improving both their performance and their long-term prospects in the sport.

Next Steps for the Project

The immediate next step is the formal approval of the budget request from the state sports directorate. Once funding is secured, the district sports department will proceed with procuring and installing the new equipment and facilities. Officials have not provided a specific timeline for when the gymnasium and other upgrades will be completed, pending the outcome of the budget application.
