Stephen Curry pushed deeper into NBA history during a 126-119 overtime victory for the Golden State Warriors against the Orlando Magic, surpassing a significant scoring milestone previously held by LeBron James. SPORT1 reported that the 38-year-old guard posted 41 points on the night, marking his 16th career game with at least 40 points since turning 35 years old.
That performance lifts Curry past James, who has recorded 15 games with 40 or more points during the same career milestone phase. No other player in league history has reached that particular scoring threshold as frequently after their 35th birthday.
Efficiency and Overtime Execution Against Orlando
Curry operated with high efficiency across 36 minutes on the floor, connecting on 13 of his 19 attempts from the field. He hit five of ten shots from beyond the arc and converted all ten of his free-throw opportunities, while also contributing six rebounds and six assists.
The contest required an extra period to decide a winner after a tightly contested regulation. In overtime, Curry put the Warriors ahead for good by converting a driving basket followed by the subsequent bonus free throw.
Standout Performances from Franz Wagner and Tristan da Silva
Orlando mounted a strong challenge behind standout showings from its German contingent. Franz Wagner led the Magic with 30 points and added 11 assists, orchestrating much of the offense. Rookie forward Tristan da Silva chipped in 19 points to support the offensive load before Golden State eventually secured the narrow decision in the extra session.
Career Milestone Context for Aging Superstars
The achievement highlights the rare longevity and sustained offensive output of both Curry and James as they play through the later stages of their careers. While James set the initial standard for high-scoring nights past age 35, Curry’s latest scoring outburst edges him ahead in this specific category.
With the extra-period win secured against Orlando, Golden State moves forward, while Franz Wagner and Tristan da Silva continue to develop for the Magic.
