The Pittsburgh Steelers forced two turnovers within the first five minutes to defeat the Cleveland Browns 27–6, securing their 23rd consecutive regular-season victory over the Browns in Pittsburgh. This result solidifies Pittsburgh’s lead in the AFC North and exposes deep offensive struggles for the visiting team.
Rookies Anchor Pittsburgh Defense
Safety Robert Spears-Jennings made his first career start, logging 183 defensive snaps this season—the most of any Steelers rookie. The 224th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft represents a defensive rookie class that has driven the team’s four-game winning streak.
Secondary coach Joe Whitt Jr. focused on refining the rookie’s technique.

When we drafted the young man, the only thing we needed to do was fix one thing. Big plays found him in college because his eye control wasn’t there. That’s the only thing the kid didn’t have.
Joe Whitt Jr., secondary coach
Whitt cited the player’s tackling and communication as evidence of his development.
There is nothing from a safety position that this young man cannot do. We were very lucky to get him where we got him.

Cornerback Daylen Everette forced and recovered a fumble in the game’s opening sequences, while undrafted free agent Kevin Jobity Jr. recorded his first career sack. Defensive line coach Domata Peko credited team veterans for the integration of these younger players.
It’s the next-man-up mentality. Big shoutout to our older guys — Cam and Keeanu. They do a good job of setting the standard every day. As a young guy, when you see the older guys do it the right way, it makes it a lot easier when your name is called.

Cleveland Offense Falters
Cleveland managed just 34 rushing yards on 2.3 yards per carry, trailing the Steelers’ 200 rushing yards. Quarterback Deshaun Watson was sacked eight times, and the team accumulated nine penalties for 85 yards.
Browns coach Todd Monken addressed the lack of execution.
We didn’t do a good enough job in any area. Our poise was a piece of it. The penalties were a piece of it. The lost yardage, sacks, (inability) to run the football … obviously, we got behind, and that’s going to have a hand in that.
Todd Monken, Browns coach
The Browns fall to 5–3 on the season following the lopsided loss. Monken described the result as a learning opportunity.
It’s a good learning lesson for this young team. When you don’t play your best, you don’t give yourself a chance. We’re certainly capable of a lot better than we put out there today. It’s a week-to-week league, and we didn’t play well enough today.
Todd Monken, Browns coach
The Steelers move to 6–2, holding the top spot in the AFC North as they prepare for their next game following the 2026 season midpoint.
