The Hatsukaichi Women’s Baseball Town Festival takes place at HIROHAI Saeki Comprehensive Sports Park on November 28 and 29, backed by a promotional radio campaign featuring players from Saeki High School, RCC Radio reported.
Saeki High School Players Record Radio Messages
To promote the upcoming November event under the slogan “Make Hatsukaichi a place longed for by baseball women,” five players from the Saeki High School women’s baseball team recorded custom radio messages for RCC Radio. Otoha Nishimura, Rion Takada, Yuna Awaya, Aoba Omori, and Suzuha Shiraishi wrote and voiced their own announcements, which are currently being broadcast across station programming. RCC Radio also highlights festival updates every Monday at approximately 18:30 during the program Sore Kike! Very Carp!
The opening day on November 28 features a collaboration with the Carp. The schedule includes a talk show hosted by active Carp players, a baseball clinic run by active players and Carp alumni, and an exhibition match pitting a joint Hatsukaichi women’s baseball selection—comprising members of the Sunbeams and Saeki High School—against a team of Carp alumni.
High School Hardball Tournament Showcases Prefectural Rivals
Action shifts to competitive play on November 29 with a high school girls’ hardball tournament. The tournament features three participating institutions from Hiroshima Prefecture: local host Saeki High School, Koryo High School, and Sanyo High School. Public high schools maintaining dedicated women’s hardball programs remain rare across Japan, bringing added attention to the rising standard of play among participating prefectural student-athletes.
Marquee Exhibits and Newly Opened Park Facilities Expand Festival Offerings
Beyond the diamond, organizers have arranged ancillary attractions around the perimeter of the HIROHAI Saeki Comprehensive Sports Park ballfields. Both days of the festival feature an open-air food and beverage marketplace operated by regional vendors alongside an interactive display of working vehicles. Visitors also gain access to the park’s multi-purpose plaza, which reopened following renovations in April.
