Russell Martin Stuns Host Antoine Vézina on Un souper presque parfait

Host Antoine Vézina lost his words Tuesday night when baseball star Russell Martin appeared on screen during the “Vie$ de rêve” special-week episode of “Un souper presque parfait,” filmed at the home of Martin’s wife, Élisabeth Chicoine, Noovo Moi reported.

Noovo Moi described Martin as the Quebec athlete to have earned the most money in history — $82 million US on a five-year contract with the Toronto Blue Jays. Slow-motion footage showed Martin pressure-washing his deck, and Vézina reacted on air: “Wow, he’s handsome! There’s pressure in there!” — a translation of his French remark, “Wow, il est beau! Il y a de la pression là-dedans!”

Vézina was not the only one impressed by the baseball star. On arrival, the women of “Vie$ de rêve” also asked Chicoine whether they would see Martin driving a golf cart across the golf course at the couple’s home, according to Noovo Moi.

The Tuesday episode was hosted at Chicoine’s residence as part of the special week devoted to wealthy reality-TV personalities. The week had opened Monday night at Stéphanie’s home, where the stars celebrated Isabelle Gauvin’s birthday and a stripper named Guillaume arrived as a surprise during dessert, Noovo Moi reported.

How Élisabeth Chicoine met Russell Martin

While preparing the meal, Chicoine told the cameras how she met the man who became her husband. It happened at a Halloween party, where he was dressed as a gladiator and she as a ninja, Noovo Moi reported. Because she did not follow baseball at all, she did not know he was famous; she realized it quickly when fans began approaching the couple at restaurants to congratulate him.

Ten years later, Chicoine and Martin are married with four children — three girls and one boy, the report said.

The ‘Vie$ de rêve’ week continues on Noovo and Crave

The special week continues with Isabelle, Stéphanie, Élisabeth, Valérie and Sarah-Christine on Noovo at 6 p.m., with catch-up streaming on Crave, Noovo Moi reported. Prime Video’s listing for Season 18 describes the show’s format: five strangers take turns hosting one another for a convivial meal and an evening of entertainment, and the best host wins.
