Rafael Jodar secures historic spot at Nitto ATP Finals

Rafael Jodar clinched his place in the season-ending Nitto ATP Finals field after Carlos Alcaraz defeated Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals of the Rolex Paris Masters. The 20-year-old Spaniard enters the eight-man tournament as the world number 10, completing the singles lineup for the event in Turin, Italy.

The field features the top eight players in the season points race divided into two round-robin groups. The top two finishers in each group advance to the semifinals of the indoor hard-court tournament, which opens its schedule on November 15.

Zverev won the tournament in 2018 and 2021, while Medvedev claimed the title in 2020. Among the remaining competitors, none have previously won the year-end championship.

Rapid Ascent From Collegiate Tennis

His rise through the professional ranks secured him a spot among the world's top players within a single season.

Jodar served as a hitting partner at the 2024 Next Gen ATP Finals in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, before competing as a player in the 2025 edition. He reached the Nitto ATP Finals in the year immediately following his Next Gen appearance, mirroring the path taken by compatriot Alcaraz in 2021 and 2022.
