Nuggets face Pacers in NBA México City game Saturday at Arena CDMX

The encounter, part of the NBA’s continued international presence, pits two teams with postseason aspirations against each other. The Nuggets arrive led by three-time MVP Nikola Jokic, while the Pacers will rely on Pascal Siakam to lead the offense in the absence of star guard Tyrese Haliburton, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury, ESPN Deportes reported.

Altitude Advantage a Key Factor for Nuggets

Nikola Jokic sees a potential advantage for his team in Mexico City’s high altitude. Speaking on Friday, the Serbian center noted that his team is accustomed to playing at elevation, which he believes could be a factor in the matchup.

“Claro que nos sentimos mejor jugando en casa. En Denver tenemos esa clara ventaja. Cuando los equipos nos visitan ahí necesitan un momento más para adaptarse, nosotros sólo necesitamos un pequeño descanso y eso puede ser una ventaja aquí,” Jokic said through a translator, according to Infobae. While Mexico City sits at 2,240 meters above sea level, higher than Denver’s 1,600 meters, Jokic stated his team’s experience with playing at altitude gives them a unique edge.

Jokic and Siakam Take Center Stage

Jokic enters the matchup on the heels of a historic performance. The Nuggets’ star recorded his 59th career 30-point triple-double with 32 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday. He trails only Oscar Robertson (106) on the NBA’s all-time list for such performances. Jokic has not achieved back-to-back 30-point triple-doubles since December 25-27, 2025.

For the Pacers, Pascal Siakam is expected to shoulder a heavier offensive load with Haliburton out. The 2019 NBA champion with Toronto acknowledged the challenge of facing the Nuggets without his backcourt partner but also praised the opportunity to play in front of Mexican fans.

“Va a ser grandioso, aunque es complicado cuando te toca enfrentarse a situaciones así al inicio de la temporada, pero, por otro lado, nos da margen para recuperar a los jugadores y que se pongan en forma. Los Nuggets y Jokic son un buen equipo, han estado al más alto nivel anteriormente y se ven magníficos para el partido de mañana,” Siakam told Infobae. He also described the atmosphere in Mexico City as similar to a playoff game due to the passionate and loud crowd.

Pacers Seek to End Streak Against Nuggets

The Pacers have several motivating factors heading into the matchup. The team snapped a five-game losing streak by defeating the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday. However, they have not won consecutive games this season and have struggled against the Nuggets, holding a 1-11 record in their last 12 encounters.

Point guard Andrew Nembhard has been a consistent performer for Indiana, scoring 20 or more points in three consecutive games, a mark that equals his longest such streak this season. The Pacers’ performance varies significantly with and without Haliburton, averaging 116.5 points per game with him compared to 107.0 in the 1-4 record without him, as noted by the initial source material.

Context and History of NBA Games in Mexico

This game is the 35th NBA contest held in Mexico since 1992 and the 16th regular-season game, solidifying the country’s status as the league’s most frequent international host outside the United States and Canada, N+ reported. The Arena Ciudad de México, with a capacity of 22,000, will host the event, marking the fifth year the city has hosted an official NBA game.

While this is the first regular-season game in Mexico for both franchises, the Nuggets have a history with the country, having played a preseason game in Monterrey in 2006. The arena, located at Avenida de las Granjas 800, Alcaldía Azcapotzalco, is also the home of the Capitanes de la Ciudad de México, the NBA G League team.

What’s Next for Both Teams

Following their international matchup, the Nuggets and Pacers will return to regular NBA action. The Nuggets are scheduled to play their next game on November 9, while the Pacers will take to the court on November 10.
